Lord Mayor’s Charity Dinner

On Thursday, June 30th, 2016, the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust hosted a fundraising evening at the Landmark Yum Cha restaurant in Sunnybank, Queensland – & what an evening it was!

RedCarpet Magazine and Red Carpet Functions were extremely honoured to be invited to provide entertainment for the event with a fashion show and live musical performance from one of our singers.

The room was filled with approximately 200 guests and was a who’s who of Brisbane. Many braved the cold winter air to support an event which saw over $15,000 raised on the night through raffles and other means with prizes kindly donated by local business.

Red Carpet Functions were proudly supported by a team of volunteer models and performers coming together to provide entertainment to the event in which designer Athan Jon was the first designer to showcase his wears.

Athan works exclusively with recycled materials and promotes an ever present environmentally conscious focus. His clothing lines are bold, daring and deliver complete freedom and uniqueness to the wearer in every inch of cloth.

The second segment was a showcase of several countries from around the world to once again promote the multicultural society in which we live. Our models proudly wore the traditional attire from their country of birth providing some incredible colour and highlighting the amazing diversity we have around us here in Brisbane and also Australia.

It is events such as these which give vital funding to provide many charities with a donation to help them not only help others but to assist them to remain open.

Though many charitable organisations receive financial benefits or reductions, they still have operating costs. These need to be covered before they can begin to help anyone. If we all give something whether it is our time or our money we can make a difference to something that could be the difference to someone of life or death when they really need it.

We would like to thank the event organisers for their kindness in accommodating us and the hospitality shown from everyone. A special thank you to the staff at Landmark restaurant for their excellent service through the evening in servicing so many guests…the Mayor and all other guests for their warmth and reception during the performances, and, last but by no means least…

We would like to give a very special thank you to our Red Carpet Functions team of models, singers and photographers for their time, effort and teamwork which made for an amazing showing.

Thank you to everyone and we hope our readers are inspired enough to make a contribution of any kind to support the local charities of Brisbane and Queensland.
