Jane Ahlstrand fell in love with Balinese dance as a girl on her first trip to the exotic island of Bali in 1998. Years later, she returned on an arts scholarship from the Indonesian government to study the dance intensively. Jane studied under the tutelage of several Balinese dance masters. Jane now actively teaches and performs Balinese dance in Australia, carrying on the legacy of her gurus in Bali while sharing the beauty of Balinese dance with others. She sees the art of Balinese dance as an enduring, lifelong commitment.

The dance I will be performing is called Tari Kasmaran and it depicts the exciting moments of a girl’s first experience of love.
